Common Beauty Problems that are Easy to Solve
Few of us can imagine a perfect world, where our skin, hair,
eyebrows, and teeth are without flaw. Realistically, we all suffer from beauty
problems at some time or another that mar our otherwise ideal image.
It’s a fact of life and depending on how much time we spend grooming
ourselves, those common problems may creep up on us, unnoticed. Fear
not. Once you pinpoint a problem, there are easy solutions to remedy
even the most unsightly nuisances.
Dry Skin
Skin changes with the seasons. Those who periodically suffer from
blotchy, dry skin often do so in the winter months when humidity is low
and indoor heating further dries it out. To combat dry skin, invest in a
humidifier for your home, drink plenty of water, and apply a moisturizer
every day. If your lips are chapped, apply a lip balm with sunscreen to
your bare lips or underneath lipstick.
Dull Hair
Dull hair can be difficult to manage because it may be weighed down
with product build-up. Periodically, wash your hair with a clarifying
shampoo to remove residue. Switch shampoos and conditioners often to
decrease the chance of build-up. Eat a healthy diet, use products that
promote shine, and reduce or eliminate heat when styling. Split ends
should be trimmed and conditioned intensively.
Unwanted Facial hair
Whether it’s noticeable due to hormones or the season, most unwanted
facial hair is around the lips. There are several techniques to mask or
eliminate the hair completely. Bleaching simply lightens the hair to
closer match your skin tone. Depilatories dissolve the hair but can
irritate the skin. Waxing can be painful and leave some irritation but
is quite effective. For a quick fix, use a personal hair remover with
small, double blades.
Nose Hairs
Our body grows nose hairs to filter our air. Both women and men can
have too many visible nose hairs that are distracting and unattractive.
It’s often necessary to remove those that stick out like a sore thumb.
Nose hair trimmers can often be found in men's grooming kits but will
need to be replaced periodically. Tweezing and depilatories are not
recommended because they are painful methods and can introduce
infection.
Uneven Eyebrows
If you’re not paying close attention, your eyebrows may become uneven
and asymmetrical over time. Make it a priority to grow and shape them
properly. If you can afford it, go to a professional for a consultation
and wax. For a quick-fix, you can fill in sparse areas with an eyebrow
pencil that closely matches your hairs. Never pluck your eyebrows when
you’re short on time.
Stained Teeth
Many things can stain teeth over time, among them are coffee, tea,
and tobacco products. Besides avoiding the products, you will need to
routinely remove the stains to obtain whiter teeth. A visit to the
dentist is a quick way to whiter teeth but can be costly. There are
several home remedies for whiter teeth
that are quite affective. For routine maintenance, try a brand of
toothpaste formulated to whiten your teeth.
If you're an avid swimmer, always take care to brush your teeth as
soon as possible after getting out of the pool to help prevent chlorine
residue from damaging your tooth enamel.
