Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil-Controlling Astringent - Product ReviewNeutrogena Clear Pore Astringent is a salicylic acid acne treatment specifically formulated to remove and control excess oil to help treat and prevent breakouts. It claims to unclog and clean your pores, resulting in clearer skin. I first noticed this astringent at a local drug store in a prominent display in middle of the aisle. The bottle contained 8 oz of astringent, and I trust the brand name, so I thought I'd give it a try. I was interested in this product because it contains salicylic acid. Since I was having frequent breakouts on my face, I needed something to clear up my skin. I wanted to try something new and haven't tried astringent before. The plastic bottle is clear and the astringent is very light blue. It has a medicinal scent similar to mouthwash but it fades when it dries. The instructions on the back of the bottle, were simple and easy to understand. Since this is an invisible, leave-on treatment, I washed my face and then applied the astringent with a cotton ball, as instructed. After putting on a thin coat, I let it dry naturally. I used it 3 times a day, every day for awhile, but changed it to 2 times a day after I noticed my skin drying out too much. On the downside, the lid to the bottle leaked sometimes and made it sticky - so be sure you have the lid tightly secured and be careful where you store it. It must be used regularly or your skin will become oily again and the breakouts will return. Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil Controlling Astringent worked well for me. It is an effective acne medication and worth the money I spent. I noticed clearer skin in a few days and have been using it for months now. I would recommend this product to others who need to control acne, pimples and frequent breakouts. Review by Amber
