IGIA Elegant Nails Nail Shaper - Product Review

Women are always looking for ways to improve and simplify their beauty routine. The IGIA Elegant Nails Nail Shaper looks like a handy device to file and shape your nails. Although it is an "As Seen on TV" product, I first spotted it in the store and purchased it for a perfect manicure.

It comes in plastic packaging that must be cut with scissors to get the product out. Inside was the sleek, thin and attractive IGIA nail shaper, one AAA battery (wow, it's included,) three file attachments and some simple instructions.

The directions were clear enough and focused on basic operation and the file attachments. The double sided file is to smooth your nails and shape the rough edges. The buffing/smoothing file is for further smoothing the surface of your nail. The contouring file is for achieving the desired length.

I wanted to get right down to it so I started with the contouring file. It was a little hard to tell the difference between the contouring file and the buffing/smoothing file. I chose the rougher one and assumed it was for contouring.

I went through all of the attachments and use them for their specific purpose. While it was somewhat effective, it was also time consuming. I ended up using a regular nail file to finish the job and get more accurate results.

I don't see the point in having a battery operated nail shaper. Not only is the size larger than a regular nail file, I was frustrated when I used it. It was much quicker using an emery board and though it's a sleek and thin design, it still takes up more room in your purse than a regular nail file.

The IGIA Elegant Nails Nail Shaper looks handy, but I didn't think this product was "the perfect tool for shaping and refining nails" as stated on the package. Amber also used it and came to the same conclusion before I voiced my opinion. From now on, I will stick to traditional nail files and emery boards for my manicures.
