Maybelline Liquid Eyes - Product ReviewThe new eye shadow Maybelline has out on the market called "Liquid Eyes" got my attention right away. I first saw an ad for this in a magazine and of course, the colors available looked gorgeous. More than that, it was that this product claims to be "long wear, no crease shadow" that perked my interest. I love the look of cream and liquid eye shadow, but shy away from it because it creases almost instantly. Maybelline claims to solve that problem with a "liquid to powder finish" in this new eye shadow called Liquid Eyes. After only a week, I bought two tubes of this shadow. "All Day Cafe" is a soft, natural brown color that is similar to the color I usually wear. My second choice was "Perpetual Plum" which looked more like a light pink color to me. The color on the cardboard packaging wasn't anywhere near the actual color in the tube. Since you can see the tube through the plastic, it's evident that there is no comparison. I applied the "All Day Cafe" to my eyelids, and added the "Perpetual Plum" below my brow for highlighting. My first impression was that the brown was a little darker that what I would have liked for daytime use -- and the plum was indeed pinkish. The eye shadows went on smoothly and dried (I thought) a little too quickly. I like to blend in my makeup and had little time to do that. This is probably how the eye shadow avoids creasing. (Over time, I got used to it and blended the makeup in as I applied it.) Maybelline Liquid Eyes did indeed give me the cream eye shadow look and I was pleased. The colors I used were not matte but had a metallic finish. Surprisingly, the pink color underneath my brow gave me a youthful appearance. I put it to the test well. With a busy day ahead, I didn't even think about my make-up until about 8 hours later. When I looked in the mirror, I was reminded to take a look at my eye shadow. I noticed my right eyelid was flawless and my left one had a slight crease in the shadow. I was impressed because I really expected noticeable creases on both lids and perhaps fading. The crease that I did have probably wouldn't be noticed by anyone but me. I left the eye shadow on and took another look later. After 12 hours of wear, the shadow didn't look any different than the 8 hour time span. This shadow seemed to withstand the test of a long day. Subsequent applications gave me similar results and overall, I think it stands up to it's claims quite well. I will probably be purchasing some of the other shades as well since I like to experiment with color. Keep in mind, the season is Autumn and results may vary substantially in the Summer heat.
