Colgate Simply White - Tooth Whitening Gel Review

Everyone wants their teeth to be pearly white. It's not easy to find the best tooth whitening formula to whiten your teeth and give you a dazzling smile. Who wants to spend the money to try them all?

Colgate Simply White clear tooth whitening gel is an over the counter solution you can try at home for whiter, brighter teeth.  It sells for about $14.99 and comes in a rectangular box that is much larger than the tube. The tube is filled about half full of clear gel.

It is recommended to use the whitening gel for 14 days for whiter teeth. This product is designed for natural teeth so there will be no affect on dental work such as bonding, crowns, caps and veneers.

Since this isn't a tray system, it simplified the process. You are instructed to brush your teeth thoroughly and apply the gel after drying your teeth. Keeping your teeth dry is the tricky part. To keep my bottom teeth dry, I had to put part of a tissue between my lip and gums while I used the brush to apply the gel.

I used Colgate Simply White gel for 4 weeks, every night before bedtime. Since my teeth are thin and most of my stains were on the inside showing through, I made sure I applied the gel on both sides of my teeth.

The gel itself has a bad taste, but I didn't expect anything else. Keeping it on your teeth long enough to be affective is a real challenge. Since you're not supposed to eat or drink anything for about 15 minutes after application, I found it easier to do it before bed.

I wasn't happy with the applicator brush. After a couple of uses, it splayed out, leaving bristles going in all directions. This made it more difficult for subsequent use.

My results? I noticed a slight improvement on the front of my teeth and they did appear somewhat whiter, however, there was no improvement on the backside of my teeth where the stains were.

I don't think I will use this product again. Colgate Simply White really wasn't worth the effort or the money to me. I've heard others who have experienced better results than I did, so obviously it works differently for everyone.

If you have sensitive gums, it's a good idea to consult your dentist before you spend money on a tooth whitener gel. You may find out it irritates your mouth and you need to discontinue it's use.

Shake it up
Make sure you shake the tube of your tooth whitening gel before you use it. This also distributes the gel over the brush.
