SkinSimple by Elizabeth Arden - Product ReviewIt's not every day you can find high quality skin care products at prices that fit your budget. When you buy SkinSimple, you get Elizabeth Arden brand research and ingredients at drugstore prices, or should I say Wal-Mart prices? Yup, you can find SkinSimple products at Wal-Mart and begin a new personal skin care regimen. Wanting to try a variety of SkinSimple products, I bought the "Get Started!" 5-piece kit for $9.84 that includes a 2-in-1 cleanser/toner, pore refining mask, moisture lotion SPF 15 nighttime moisture cream and eye priority cream. I started out with a perfectly clear complexion so I had a "clean slate" to work with, however I do have some annoying fine lines and visible pores. I didn't use all the products at once, but slowly introduced them to my face starting with the toner. Efficiency Expert 2-in-1 Cleanser/Toner The cleanser/toner is white and creamy, not what I'd expected. It has a light, pleasant scent and cleaned a little better than I thought it would, without drying out my skin. After several uses, my pores seemed to tighten up a little, making me happy with the overall appearance of my skin. Unplugged Pore Refining Mask The pore refining mask feels gritty and dries rather quickly. I applied a thin layer and left it on for about 15 minutes. My face felt very dry and itchy after it dried so I didn't want to leave it on too long. The instructions said to leave it on for "a few minutes" so I timed it about right. It was a little messy removing the mask, but the grit offered some good exfoliating action to better cleanse my skin. It was recommended to use the mask about twice a week and that sounds reasonable enough. I liked the pore refining mask. I was previously using Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser to exfoliate and this worked just as well, although the ingredients are different. It makes my face feel very clean and soft, and is easy to use only twice a week. There was no scent to it so I didn't have to be concerned with skin irritation. Quench Your Thirst Moisture Lotion What I liked about the moisture lotion is the SPF 15, which makes it a good choice for a daytime moisturizer. It's light enough to wear underneath makeup and at the same time, protect my skin against the sun's dangerous rays. Beauty Sleep Nighttime Moisture Cream The SkinSimple nighttime cream is a little heavier than the daytime lotion, but not much. For me, it was good for the summer, but I will have to wait and see if it can handle the dry patches when my skin adjusts to the Winter temperatures. It might be light enough to wear under makeup, but I would leave it for evening use only since it doesn't have the SPF that the regular moisture lotion offers. SkinSimple Eye Priority Cream The eye cream seemed pretty basic. I don't really have too much need for it so I only used it a couple of times. A better choice might be the Poof! De-puffing Eye Gel which should benefit those who have puffy eyes naturally, from a bad crying session, or from staying up too late. It isn't included in the "Get Started" kit, so it has to be purchased separately. Summary I was happy with Elizabeth Arden's new SkinSimple products. I didn't have any problems with blemishes or clogged pores and my skin is soft and smooth -- just how it is when I use more pricier products from the department stores. With the unbeatable price and quality, I've made it a part of my regular skin care regimen. Update 4/14/07: It appears that SkinSimple has been discontinued. It can no longer be found at Wal-Mart and the product website is not active. You can still find this product available on Ebay and other online auctions.
