Gillette® Venus Vibrance™ Razor - ReviewUnless you opt for costly permanent hair removal, shaving is a fact of life you have to live with. That would be the majority of the population. Enter in: popular companies all wanting to cash in on selling tools for temporary hair removal. Something they can make money with, over and over. I wasn't compelled to try Gillette's Venus razor until I discovered Venus Vibrance on the shelf, sold in a pretty package. For under $10.00, I received one Venus Vibrance razor, one cartridge, one AAA battery, and a 2.5 oz can of Gillette Satin Care shaving gel. Also included was a shaving compact for storage and bonus g2g vibe cards with shaving tips and stickers. All of this came in a flexible plastic case which will be handy for traveling. There are two options with this razor. Leave it off, or take advantage of the soothing vibrations and turn it on. Using it both ways, I liked the razor itself, but wasn't too fond of the vibrations. When shaving with the vibrations, the razor became somewhat slippery and hard to keep a grip on. Also, when setting it down, it had a tendency to vibrate itself right on into the tub if I didn't turn it off first. Slightly annoying, but being immersed in water didn't harm the razor. Will I buy more blades for this razor? Yes. Will I buy more batteries for the razor? Probably not. I like the razor's shape and flexibility. I got a close, smooth shave with it and didn't have any nicks, with or without the vibrations. But, because of the reasons stated above and the fact that I didn't see much benefit to the vibrations, I prefer to shave with the razor turned off. Gillette® Satin Care® Shave GelBeing one who likes to keep things simple, I usually shave with good ole soap and water. Since the gel was included, I had to try it. My first impression was good. It foamed up really well and I learned that a little goes a long way. Unfortunately, the gel that I received was unscented. This could be because it is less likely to cause skin irritation. Nonetheless, I would have preferred a scent. After shaving, my skin did feel a bit softer. This was probably due to the Satin Care shave gel and not because of the razor. The gel is something I could live without, but I was impressed and will likely buy more -- scented, of course. I think Gillette was smart for adding their Satin Care shave gel to the package, even if it's only temporary. It's a great way to get people to try both the razor and the gel. Chances are, users will like one or the other. If they like both, bingo! They'll have a happy customer for both products.
